PAINTING THEORY & PRACTICE

In addition to the lore of the Votann, I would also like to present a commission I was given to paint an army of Votann using the yellow color scheme. I have created a tutorial on the Painting Academy on how to paint the yellow color scheme.

When it comes to painting miniatures, yellow is a challenging color to work with. It can be difficult to achieve a consistent and vibrant finish, as yellow paint tends to be translucent and can easily be overpowered by other colors. However, with the right techniques and materials, it is possible to achieve beautiful and striking results.

One of the key things to keep in mind when painting yellow is to use multiple layers. Because yellow paint is translucent, it is important to build up the color gradually in order to achieve a consistent and vibrant finish. Another important factor to consider is the undercoat color. A white undercoat will make the yellow appear brighter, while a darker undercoat will make the yellow appear more muted.

In my tutorial, I will be using the Contrast range of paints from Games Workshop. These paints are specifically formulated to make layering and blending easy, which is especially useful for achieving a smooth and consistent finish when painting yellow. I will also be sharing some mini video tutorials on my Instagram reels and YouTube channel, showing how to use these paints to achieve the desired result.
